Proneness To Infections

The common symptoms of an infectious disease are local and general inflammation (swelling, reddening, pain, temperature) as well as excessive secretion (nose secretion, sputum, discharge). Strictly speaking, all these symptoms are active defence reactions of the human body via its mucous membranes. They show that a „fight" is taking place between the pathogen (bacterium, virus, fungus) and the body. In most cases the body wins this fight, which results in excessive secretion (e.g. a cold). Among other substances this secretion also contains dead, i.e. harmless, bacteria and their metabolic substances, which are flushed out.
This classical course of an infection mostly takes place in the protective layers of the body (skin-mucous membrane-transition). In many cases the physician does not have to intervene, not even with homeopathic remedies, provided that the patient is physically fit.
However, it can often be observed that particular persons cannot cope with their infectious diseases. Those infections take a long time or the patient suffers from one infection after the other. In this case the homeopath can cautiously intervene in the regulatory mechanism of the organism by administering an individually selected remedy. This is called "constitution therapy". It aims at improving the patient's constitution so that he can better cope with his infections, i.e. that he recovers more quickly and that he does not fall ill so quickly.
Still, it cannot be the aim of a constitution therapy to eliminate infections at all. As mentioned above, infections are a sign of successfully dealing with pathogens from our environment. Approximately two (feverish) "common" infections a year can be regarded as "normal" and even "required", as mentioned above.
It is not only the virus or the bacterium that is to blame for the infection but a "weak point" or a temporary weakness of the organism. It is well-known that we can live with most pathogens without falling ill. They can also be proven on the mucous membrane of a healthy person. Then they are "kept in check" by microorganisms covering the mucous membranes.

Let me add some points regarding the treatment of acute (common) infections with homeopathic remedies (“emergency kit”!):
Acute infections can be treated very well with homeopathic remedies. At the beginning of an infection of the upper respiratory tract it is advisable to administer those homeopathic remedies which you know very well. If they have a positive effect, you should continue administering the remedy, however, less often. If the symptoms change, you have to choose another remedy. You should also do so if there is no improvement.
It is always important to consult a physician in case of an acute infection. Above all, it is necessary to make an exact diagnosis, especially if the symptoms are severe, if the illness develops in an unexpected way or if the infections take an unusually long time.
